New Strategic Alliance in Anti-Terrorism Security Market Speeds Delivery of Integrated Security Systems, Inc.’s In-Demand Products to Europe and Africa
June 29, 2004 - For Immediate Release
IRVING, TEXAS - June 29, 2004 - B&B ARMR Corporation, a subsidiary of Integrated Security Systems, Inc.(ISSI) (OTCBB: IZZI), today announced a strategic licensing agreement with Germany’s Saelzer GmbH that will accelerate availability of B&B ARMR anti-terrorist crash gate and barrier technologies for high-security applications in Europe and Africa. Under the agreement, Saelzer, a leading provider of blast-rated glass for building exteriors, will manufacture select B&B ARMR crash gates and barriers to meet urgent market demands across the two continents. Concurrently, Saelzer will distribute B&B ARMR’s full line of Department of State-certified products to embassies, military bases, commercial buildings and refineries in African and European countries. The alliance with Saelzer constitutes ISSI’s first license agreement and first concerted effort to establish an active presence in these high-growth overseas markets, where minimizing production cycle time is critical to meeting immediate commercial demand for security products. “Security is an emotion-driven business. Customers don’t want to wait for these products, and we understand this sense of urgency given recent world events,” said Ted Wlazlowski, B&B ARMR Executive Vice President and COO. “Expediting production and delivery is a core initiative for B&B, which is why we forged a strategic relationship with Saelzer, a clear leader in delivering security solutions to world-class clients, such as the U.S. Department of State.” “Manufacturing products this massive in size, such as crash gates and barriers, that meet each country’s unique specifications for pumping unit technology, drive mechanisms, voltage, etc., potentially means drawn-out production cycles coupled with increased shipping times and costs,” explained Mr. Wlazlowski. “By licensing Saelzer to manufacture select products and handle distribution across the board, we abbreviate production cycles, cut shipping time and costs, and make in-demand security products available at a lower cost to customers in Europe and Africa. We also gain production capacity at our U.S. facility.” This pivotal partnership leverages the assets of both companies to create a virtual delivery mechanism that addresses the anti-terrorism security needs of diverse customers. Due to high demand that is the result of increased terrorist activity worldwide, sales are already underway at Saelzer GmbH for B&B’s crash beams. In addition to product manufacturing and distribution, the two companies have agreed to cooperate on a technical level to bring even more robust, cutting-edge security solutions to global customers. “B&B ARMR offers proven technology that will be a cornerstone of Saelzer’s expanding sales efforts. B&B’s crash-rated barriers and gates are both a natural complement and critical addition to our security products portfolio, expanding the envelop of protection we are able to provide from a building to its logical perimeter for multiple layers of protection,” stated Frank Rummler, Managing Director of Saelzer. “Our firm completed an extensive assessment of the available options. B&B ARMR’s broad range of Department of State-certified security products is the most versatile for the market applications we encounter. We are very encouraged by this partnership.” The strategic alliance includes the opportunity for Saelzer GmbH to obtain licensing agreements for manufacturing additional B&B products as market demand arises. Concurrently, Saelzer will continue to resell products manufactured by B&B ARMR according to the terms of a traditional distribution agreement. Saelzer is currently bidding on several projects that would employ B&B’s core products.
